Greetings Fellow Motorcyclists!
As we look out our window and see the last remains of 5 inches
of snow, it becomes clear that early spring is way overdue!!! This
weekend looks good and the remains of this snowy winter will be
a recent memory. So let's talk about some warm weather activities
|
World Of Wheels Education Seminar
JoAnna and I will be presenting our 1st seminar of the year"Luck
of the Irish (Avoiding the Pucker Factor)"at World
of Wheels in Marietta on the evening of 17 March. Joining us
for this presentation will be our renowned Tour Guide, Stayin'
Safe instructor, and avid motorcyclist PETE TAMBLYN.
The topics will include refreshing our mental skills and focusing
on proper management of turns. The session begins at 7PM and will
last about an hour.
Refreshments will be served and there is usually a large group
of attendees. Hope to see you there!!!!!!!!!

AMS Recognition in National Publications
Atlanta Motorcycle Schools has been prominently mentioned in recent
issues of American Motorcycles Association and Motorcycle Consumer
News magazines.
The article in MCN included this information; "On-street training
has been becoming more prevalent these days. On-street training
is widely accepted in countries such as Britain, but there are only
a handful of opportunities in the US. Some on-street training programs
available in the states include Stayin' Safe (www.stayinsafe.com),
BikeSafe North Carolina (www.nccrimecontrol.org)
and Atlanta Motorcycle Schools (www.jkminc.com).
On-street courses typically include observed evaluation in real
world conditions with the aid of rider-to-rider radio communication"
For information of our street courses go to www.jkminc.com/course.html
and look closely at Course 111 (on-street for new riders), Course
301 (for riders with more confidence and riding miles) and Course
202 (Dual Sport Adventure riding). Each of these courses is conducted
on street with our usual one to one ratio and the use of bike to
bike communication.

Trail BrakingLeave it on the Track
Some of you may have heard or read about an advanced braking technique
called "trail braking". Essentially it is accomplished
by waiting for the last possible moment before the turn, and while
still upright, apply maximum brake pressure just before leaning
into the turn and gradually easing off the brake as you enter the
turn.
Word of advice: Forget this technique as it applies
to your everyday street riding. This technique is used by road racers
for one purposeto lower their lap times. If you have any questions
or want to discuss this technique, call Ken at 770 573 9902.

Motorcycle Sport Touring Association
Among several motorcycle clubs and associations JoAnna and I belong
to is the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association (MSTA). Members own
and ride just about every brand and type of motorcycle (my kind
of group!!). Their riding events take place all over the country
and in great riding areas. One of the benefits include the Dan Clark
Program whereas money is returned to members for reimbursement for
riding courses and apparel purchased during the year. For more information
about the MSTA go to www.ridemsta.com.
